What is a Thread Lift?

A thread lift is an anti-aging and beauty procedure, designed to tighten the skin through the insertion of thin threads made of polydioxanone into problem areas. Usually performed on the face, neck and/or jawline, a lift using the right threads can have impressive long term anti-aging effects.

A thread lift also addresses the visible signs of aging by stimulating the body’s ‘healing response’ – encouraging production of collagen to treated areas. It is well known that collagen helps to keep our skin strong, voluminous and supple.

What Are Matrix PDO Mono Threads?

PDO Mono Threads are another method of tightening and thickening your skin. They are a type of single PDO filament, are smooth and without barbs

PDO Mono Threads are inserted into the sub dermal level, in a mesh-like pattern, to promote the creation of new collagen. The threads activate collagen synthesis which produces a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect.

They are minimally invasive and can also be used multiple times.

Matrix PDO Mono Threads are a high quality type of thread used in thread lifts. Designed to meet patients’ needs, there are two types of threads practitioners and clinics can order:

  •
  • Matrix Mono Threads: tightening effects on the skin and encourages natural collagen and elastin production.
  •
  • Matrix Double Screw Threads: same effects as
  •
  • Matrix Mono Threads, as well as adding volume to problem areas and lifting the face.

What are Matrix PDO Mono threads made from?

Matrix PDO Mono threads are made from Polydioxanone – an absorbable polymer. This material is both flexible and durable.

The threads become a support structure for your face, allowing collagen production to increase. Overtime, the threads are absorbed by the body.

How do Matrix PDO threads tighten the skin?

They induce natural collagen production, which creates a tightening effect. This effect lasts for 6-12 months.

Results may be seen in 6 weeks and will continue to improve over 2 to 6 months. While the threads slowly dissolve, their effects may last up to 12 months.

How does this procedure differ from Thread Lifts?

PDO threads differ from thread lifts, which use long barbed threads to lift tissues. Instead, mono threads provide an improvement of fine lines and wrinkles by gradually stimulating natural collagen production.

There are two different types of Matrix threads:

Mono threads – Matrix Mono Threads are a type of single PDO filament which are smooth and made without barbs. They are inserted into the skin in a mesh-like pattern, producing a tightening effect. While Matrix Mono Threads tighten the skin, they provide no lifting effect.

Screw threads – Matrix Screw Threads feature a double thread screw, consisting of 1-2 intertwined threads, which provide volume to the area being treated. These are for patients who only desire skin tightening and rejuvenation.

Am I a suitable candidate?

Our doctor will discuss this with you at your consultation but if you would like better skin quality, skin tightening and firmness to those hard to treat areas, Neck, chest, jawline, upper lip lines and stubborn static lines the chances are yes, however we will discuss at consultation to the suitability of the treatment.

How the treatments are performed?

A local anesthetic or numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for minimal discomfort. The PDO threads are then inserted into the treatment area through micro-fine needles or cannulas which guide the threads into position. The needles or cannulas are then removed, leaving the threads in place.

There is no incision and subsequently, no stitches required.

The procedure will last for anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes depending on the treatment areas.

How many threads will I need?

The amount of PDO threads required depends on the treatment areas and amount of improvement required.

When will I see the results?

You will begin to see results in 6 weeks which continue to improve over the next 6 months as new collagen is produced. Although the PDO threads will slowly dissolve, you will see results for up to 12 months.
